We mark the anniversary of Happy Peace Operation which conducted 44 years ago by Turkish Armed Forces to say "stop" to the mass destruction campaign against the Turks who live in the Cyprus Island. Dr. Akkan Suver made a statement concerning the anniversary of this great operation and said "we are very proud of all our martyrs and we would like to commemorate them, especially late Rauf Denktaş and Dr. Fazıl Küçük on this great day.

Dr. Suver's statement as following: "Turkey, which used its guarantor rights designated in 1960 Zurich and London Agreements, intervened in the island because of the constant increase of the atrocious attacks against Cypriot Turks. This was really a peace operation. Since then, Turkish Cypriots continue to live in peaceful and democratic environment. Today, Turkish Cypriots are in safety thanks to this great and successful operation. I would like to commemorate Rauf Denktaş, the great leader of Turkish Cypriots, and Dr. Fazıl Küçük with great respect and gratitude once more on the 44th anniversary of this great operation.

A delegation headed by Fahri Yönlüer, is Consul General of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in Istanbul, put a wreath on the Republic Monument located in Taksim Square on the occasion of the 44th anniversary of Cyprus Peace Operation.
