Speaking at the 17^th General Assembly of the International Foundation for Sustainable Peace and Development, the President of the Marmara Group Foundation Dr.Akkan Suver made a presentation called "The New Silk Road and the Dialogue of Civilization." In his presentation moderated by the famous Azerbaijani author Cengiz Abdullayev, Akkan Suver emphasized that One Belt-One Road Project is candidate for the Nobel Peace Prize as peace project of future. Dr. Akkan Suver, who participated to the General Assembly together with Engin Köklüçınar, met with Journalist Seyfullah Türksoy and Prof. Dr. Aygül Attar. The speech of Dr. Akkan Suver is below.

The text of speech of Dr. Akkan Suver at the 17th General Assembly and the Board of Director Meetings of International Foundation for Sustainable Peace and Development 

Ladies and gentlemen,

Ten years ago in Bucharest, we established The International Fund for Cooperation and Partnership of the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea with the participation of President of that time Traian Basescu.

The architect of this organization is Ambassador Eldar Hasanov.

Prof. Dr. Eldar Hasanov came to Istanbul a year before this establishment and shared the details of this project.

Later on less than a year, in Bucharest, on March 4, 2009, we have established our Foundation with Zhyldyz Oskonbeava from Kyrgyzstan, Iulian Fota from Romania, Eldar Hasanov with Cengiz Abdullayev from Azerbaijan, the late Tamaz Beradze from Georgia, Vadym Kolesnichenko from Ukraine, Dossym Suleyev from Kazakhstan, and Lidia Romancıuc from Moldova and with my participation from Turkey.

Our friends who joined us over the years have enabled us to be stronger. From the first day to this day, I am grateful to all of our friends who have contributed to the development of this beautiful cooperation. I would like to thank all of them with your High presence, on behalf of our Foundation which I'm proud of to call myself as the founder and one-term president.

And we've come to these days. The one who has taken this foundation to the present day is Prof.Dr. Eldar Hasanov.

Ladies and gentlemen,
The EU project is a peace project. As Marmara Group Foundation, we advocated the idea of the European Union with care and attention for many years. Likewise, as well as a stability, a welfare togetherness we consider the union of the European Union as a culture of peace. Another version of this project in Europe, this time round was presented in the Far East under the name of One Belt-One Road led by the People’s Republic of China. The Chinese brought the trade route, which we call the historical Silk Road, back to stage of history with the name of land and sea Silk Road in a geography stretching from Beijing to London. The Republic of Turkey took place in the project as main component. We, with our modest means, in every environment protected this global project which we believe will bring peace, stability and prosperity to the Far East, Central Asia and the Middle East.

Likewise we believe that when One Belt-One Road Project takes place, there will be a dialogue on a line from Beijing to London and with this dialogue, the richness of culture as well as the economy will automatically build bridges of peace between countries. Therefore, One Belt-One Road Project is an important crossroads of our future. This project that is junction point, is at least as important as the EU project and I believe in the future just like the EU Project it will be deemed worthy of the Nobel Peace Prize.

 

 

Hereby, the philosophy of the Silk Road will direct us to global people, to global thought, to global trade and to global law. Europe is guiding this with the European Union. Europe has demonstrated ideas, goods, services and people with no boundaries within the European Union, Europe has also revealed that wars can only be avoided by this way and people should approach each other in such a way that they cannot be separated. The "One Belt- One Road" (The Silk Road Project) is actually the main vessel of the peaceful living.

"One Belt- One Road" project is a bridge between China and Europe. The name of this bridge is Eurasia. The world is facing with a Eurasian reality today. We have to comprehend and evaluate Eurasia very well. The Eurasian reality has been formed in the last twenty-six years, and new opportunities came out with the emergence of the project "One Belt- One Road" five years ago. What are these opportunities? Firstly, they are cultural treasures. The treasures of a great civilization that we belong to for thousand years are available in Eurasia.

After the emergence of these treasures, there will be peace in Eurasia. In addition to the countries that are friends and relatives, their neighbor countries from China to England including Russia will be determined to live peace.

A treasure of history will emerge as well as a cultural treasure, and a trade bridge going towards future will emerge.

The richness of language will knock the doors of states. Today, as the historic Silk Road takes its place on the scene of history again, I have a debt of gratitude to H.E. Xi Jinping, the President of People's Republic of China.

Again, the people in the future will be able to find a job in a different country although they remain their citizenship in own country thanks to the philosophy of the Silk Road.

Meanwhile, I have to emphasize that Turkey, my country, attaches a great importance to the Silk Road. Turkey enabled the Baku-Tbilisi- Kars railways to enter into life and became a partner of Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, which is the financer of the project of the Silk Road. Also Turkey continue to work on the project of Marmaray.

To sum up, the People's Republic of China is ready to lead the global peace thanks to its philosophy, which was put forward, enabled them to catch the era. The People's Republic of China, is an important actor at the world stage, enabled its industry and its economy to be global besides its technology.

Knowing the opportunity for today's meeting, I would like to present Mr. Eldar Hasanov, THE HONORARY MEDAL OF MARMARA GROUP FOUNDATION which has been presented by Marmara Group Strategic and Social Research Foundation to the ten-year participants of the Eurasian Economic Summits.
We were going to give this medal at the 22nd Eurasian Economic Summit on February 6th, 2019. That day they couldn't attend. Taking the advantage of this meeting, today I will present to them.
