Having gained its independence on Sunday, May 21, 2006 with a 55.5% "yes" vote, Montenegro is celebrating the 14th anniversary of its independence today.

Being a member of NATO in 2017, Montenegro has achieved significant success in the 14 years we left behind during the membership process of European and Atlantic institutions. Again, Montenegro is nearing the end of accession negotiations on the road to EU membership.

Marmara Group Foundation President, Dr. Akkan Suver who posted a message on the occasion of the Independence Day, Montenegro, stated that, "In the 14-year period of independence, Montenegro has become the shining star of the Balkans with its stability and exemplary works on the road to democracy.”
