Youth Participation on Democratic Process Seminar

The seminars which is organized within the scope of our project continue in Marmara University. Assoc. Dr. Prof. Yonca Özer moderated the seminar titled The Importance of Political Participation for Democracy: Democratic Participation of Young People '. Prof. Dr. Serhat Güvenç shared his experiences on participation in democratic processes and the mechanisms of participation. EU and Human Rights Platform President Müjgan Suver presented the Turkish Youth and Women for Democracy project. The Director of the Institute for European Studies hosted the seminar. Prof. Dr. Muzaffer Dartan and our project partner Kenan Kolat of the Turkish-German Institute, Dr. Ertekin Özcan and Cem Gençtürk also participated in the seminar.

Visit to Consul General of Greece Georgia Soultanopoulov

Within the framework of the informational visits of the 23rd Eurasian Economic Summit, President of Marmara Group Foundation Dr. Akkan Suver visited the Consul General of Greece in Istanbul Georgia Soultanopoulov in her office. During the visit, Dr. Akkan Suver told the Consul General of Greece Georgia Soultanopoulov about the importance they attach to the representation of their country at the Summit and asked for support for the high level of representation of Greece at the Summit.

The Chinese Peoples Association for Peace and Disarmament CPAPD was at Marmara Group Foundation

A delegation from The Chinese People's Association for Peace and Disarmament (CPAPD) which constituted An Yuejun, Hou Hongyu, Shen Fang, Han Shuai, visited the Marmara Group Foundation. The representatives of The Chinese People's Association for Peace and Disarmament who met with Dr. Akkan Suver, Ertuğrul Kumcuoğlu, Cafer Okray, Engin Köklüçınar, Occurrence Molu and Lamiya Valiyeva from Marmara Group Foundation and stated that will be present at the 23rd Eurasian Economic Summit of Marmara Group Foundation.

Marmara Group Foundation, German-Turkish Institute for Education, Culture and Politics, Union of Turkish Women visited the decision-making bodies of the TGNA and received information about the policies carried out on young people and women. The delegation presented information about the project (Turkish Youth and Women for Democracy Project) being implemented to Mr. Engin Altay, Istanbul Deputy. Mr. Engin Altay, Istanbul Deputy presented the members of the delegation a comprehensive information about the CHP's work in the field of women, youth and democracy.

Marmara Group Foundation; Within the framework of the EU Project (Turkish Youth and Women for Democracy Project) implemented together with the Turkish Women's Union and the DTI German-Turkish Institute for Education, Culture and Politics made a visit to the Grand National Assembly. The first visit of the Marmara Group Foundation, which visited the parties in the TGNA group, was to Deputy Chairman of the Parliament and Deputy Chairman of MHP, Istanbul Deputy Mr. Celal Adan. The Deputy Chairman of the Turkish Grand National Assembly and the Deputy Chairman of the MHP, Mr. Celal Adan, was informed about the project activities and exchanged views on the responsibility of young people and women in democracy by Müjgan Suver, Lale Aytanç Nalbant, Ebrar Demir, Ömer Yıldırım from Marmara Group Foundation, Demet Erdemir and Yasemin Kültür from Union of Turkish Women, Kenan Kolat, Ertekin Özcan and Cem Gençtürk from German-Turkish Institute for Education, Culture and Politics.

Ambassador Hüseyin Danış Tunagil, martyred in Vienna, was commemorated

Ambassador of Vienna Daniş Tunalıgil, martyred by ASALA militants on October 22, 1975, was commemorated with a ceremony held in front of the embassy building where he was martyred. Representatives of the Austrian Turkish community were also present at the ceremony attended by Turkish diplomats, particularly the Ambassador of Vienna Ümit Yıldırım. Birol Kılıç, one of the volunteers of Marmara Group Foundation, was present at the Commemoration Ceremony.

National Day of Hungary celebrated

The Hungarian National Day was celebrated with a Reception by the Consul General of Hungary Laszlo Keller at the Hungarian Cultural Center in Istanbul. To the reception which is attended by Ambassador of Hungary to Ankara Viktor Matis, Deputy Governor of Istanbul Cemalettin Özdemir, President of Marmara Group Foundation Dr. Akkan Suver, as well as representatives of diplomatic missions of many countries attended. Speaking at the event, which started after singing the national anthems of the two countries, Ambassador Viktor Matis and Consul General Laszlo Keller talked about the values of Turkish-Hungarian relations and the democratic structure of the Hungarians.
