Chinese Overseas Friendship Association visits the Marmara Group Foundation

Chinese Overseas Friendship Association (COFA) visited the Marmara Group Foundation. Lead by Yang Bingjan, COFA delegation comprised of Xu Guixiang, Wu Jinguang, Peng Yanxia and Zhai Chaoqun were hosted by the Marmara group team including President Dr. Akkan Suver, Dr. Fatih Saraçoğlu, Cafer Okray, Ertuğrul Kumcuoğlu, Lale Aytanç Nalbant and Atty. Ercüment Güvercin. The agenda included exploration of the ways the two NGOs can collaborate as well as an exchange of opinions on cultural and economic affairs. Dr. Akkan Suver speaks at the 20th European Forum

Dr. Akkan Suver offered a speech on strategies for the future of Europe in the 20th European Forum organized with joint sponsorship of the Austrian Institute for European Security (AIES) lead by the Austrian Minister of Defence Dr. Werner Faslabend, along with Diplomat Academy of Vienna (DAV) and Wilfried Martens Centre for European Studies(WMCES). During the forum, has co-hosts of the event DAV's Dr. Susanne Keppler-Schlesinger and WMCES's Tomi Huhtanen also offered speeches. The list of guests that spoke included Slovakian Minister of Foreign Affairs Miroslaw Lajcak, Polish Senator Dr. Bogdan Klich, President of International Institute of Strategic Studies Fraçois Heisbourg, Latvian Deputy Secretary of State, Brussels Egmont Institute Principal Dr. Sven Biscop and Pakistani Minister of Defense General Asıf Yasin Malik. Dr. Suver, received by the Former Chancellor Erhard Busek and The General Secretary Elena Kitscheva, was accompanied by Mujgan Suver and Birol Kılıç. Dr. Suver invited Dr. Busek and Mme. Nizami Caferov Commemorates Ataturk at the Consulate General of Hungary in Istanbul

Marmara Group Foundation with support of the gracious host Hungarian Consulate in Istanbul, organized a commemoration service in honor of the 78th anniversary of the passing away of Ataturk. In the event, Ataturk Center in Azerbaijan President and Member of The Azerbaijani Parliament Prof. Dr. Nizami Caferov offered his speech on "Ataturk in Azerbaijan". During his speech to the officials on diplomatic duty, he conveyed the perspectives towards Ataturk through the writings and speeches of three historic figures Neriman Nerimanov, Mehmet Emin Resulzade and Haydar Aliyev. In turn, he covered the scientific and literary pieces on Ataturk from each period in chronological sequence. In the opening address Dr. Akkan Suver and H.E. Hungarian Consulate Balázs Hendrich highlighted the respect towards and significance of Ataturk in Hungary as well as Turkey.

A Marmara Group foundation represenation committee composed of Atty. At Law Ercüment Güvercin, Kenan Acıkök and lead by of Deputy President Engin Köklüçınar participated at the workshop named "Gagauzia - Invest 2016" organized in Moldova - Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia. Engin Köklüçınar, being received by the President of the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia Irına Vlah, has invited her to the 20th Eurasian Economic Summit. Mr. Köklüçınar emphasized the significance of the Turkey - Gagauzia relationships during the speech he gave at one of the sessions.

Turkish Republic now 93 years old

We just realized the 93rd anniversary of the republic, which the admired founder of the republic Atatürk himself recognized as the "The Great Day of the People". Having raisend the Turkish people from a future of subordination to that of free citizenry, and having given them a place of honor among the free peoples of the civic nations, the founding of republic was celebrated with much zest. On October 29th Governor of Istanbul Vasip Şahin received his guests of honors in the morning (as is common and customary in religious and nationally significant memorials.) During the evening, he later held a reception at the Istanbul WOW hotel. During the celebratory observation, Major General of the First Division of the Turkish Army, Istanbul Mayor Kadir Topbaş as well as other leading officials from the military, economic and diplomatic circles were in attendance. Dr. Akkan Suver, Engin Köklüçınar and Kenan Acıkök representing the Marmara Group Foundation celebrated the joyous occasion with the mayor as well.

Network of Checks and Balances realizes its 2nd Great Meeting in Ankara

Marmara Group Foundation's long standing collaborator (since 2011) Network of Checks and Balances has convened in Ankara in 27-28 October 2016. At this meeting, in which issues pertaining to the recent political developments and current state of affairs formed the crux of the discussions, the spokesperson of the legislation working group Müjgan Suver has represented the foundation. The wide range of stake holders and members discussed the agenda for each component of the network, as well as defined and allocated roles and responsibilities for the sustainability of the network. As a result of the assessments, it was decided that Marmara Group Strategic and Social Research Foundation shall continue work under the Democratic Participation Group as a component of the Network much like the Istanbul Policy Center -IPC, or National Democratic Institute -NDI.
