Dr. Akkan Suver moderates the Olive Liberation Fest

Dr. Akkan Suver moderated the panel of ‘Olive under Threat’ having been held within the framework of the 6th Olive Festivities at Küçükkuyu, the small town which is considered to be the starting point of the Aegean Sea. The then-traditionalised panel of Olive Festivities, which has been organized for six years respectively under the administration of Mr. Cengiz Balkan, the Mayor of Küçükkuyu, was followed by a huge crowd. The panel inauguration was initialised with the address of Mr Balkan emphasizing the importance bestowed on the olive raising through the small town. At the panel joined by Dr. Handan Torak Benli –the Mayor of Avcılar, Süheyla Doğan – the representative from an environment organisation and the women farmers from the Yırcalı Village, the circumstances of the Turkish Olive Production was laid on the table. In accordance, Dr. Suver made remarks on the economic and industrial value of olive. In conclusion, the panellists brought on the agenda the difficult circumstances the olive sector getting through nowadays.

VALEDICTION DINNER TO THE CONSUL GENERAL OF UZBEKISTAN

The Marmara Group Foundation held a valediction dinner in honour of Mr Abror Gulyamov, the Istanbul Consul General of Uzbekistan on occasion of his end of tenure in Istanbul. At the dinner, Hon. Consul General was joined by Dr. Akkan Suver – the President, H.E. General Necdet Timur (ret.), H.E. Hüseyin Avni Mutlu – the Former Governor of Istanbul, Dr. Fatih Saraçoğlu, Engin Köklüçınar, Yüksel Çengel, Cafer Okray, Cengiz Güldamlası, Mete Güldamlası, Nuri Artok and Turan Sürücü. During the dinner, it was made mention of the remarkable services Mr. Abrov launched for the bilateral relations of Uzbekistan and Turkey during his tenure in Istanbul.

Bülent Kerimoğlu at his office and submit information related to the 19th Eurasian Economic Summit to be organised on 5-7th April, 2016 in Istanbul. Dr. Suver and his colleagues presented an invitation to the Mayor, Mr. Kerimoğlu for the Gala Dinner taking place on the eve of 5th April 2016 as well as for the inaugural ceremony on 6th of April, 2016.

Within the framework of the 19th Eurasian Economic Summit of 2016, Dr. Akkan Suver, Mr. Şamil Ayrım and Mr. Cengiz Güldamlası paid a two-day working visit to Baku and joined the morning program of Yenigün live-broadcast on the İçtimai TV of Azerbaijan to tell of the upcoming Summit in Istanbul. During the live-broadcast Dr. Suver and Mr. Ayrım expressed their gratitude thanks to the high considerations given so far by Azerbaijan for the Eurasian Economic Summits and made mention of the subjects of Economy, Energy, Terrorism and Forced Migration to be touched upon at this year’s Summit.

The President of the Marmara Group Foundation, Dr. Akkan Suver, signed the Condolence Book displayed by the Governance of Istanbul due to the savage terror attack occurred in Istanbul. In relation to the loss of ten German citizens through the terrorist attack taking place at the district of the Sultanahmet Square in the previous week, Dr. Suver stated that ‘’This is a crime against humanity’’ and asked over everyone to cooperate against this crime.

Dr. Akkan Suver conveyed his condolences in person following the opening of a Book of Condolences at the Istanbul Consulate General of Germany for those German citizens killed during the incident occurred in form of a terrible terrorist attack through a suicide bombing act at the Istanbul’s Sultanahmet Square. He stated that ‘Today, we have gathered here together to commemorate our German brothers, the victims of the greatest enemy of the humanity, namely terrorism’. We, all, are obliged to fight against terrorism; this is a duty ascribed to the people all over the world. Fully aware of this responsibility, I would like to express my Sympathies to the German Nation and call out the whole world for the fight against terrorism on a common ground.
