The Members of the Central Committee of China at the Marmara Group Foundation

Under the leadership of Su Zuhui, the Head of the International Research Department of the Central Committee of China, a delegation consisting of Zou Guoyu, Liu Yuwenshi, and Zhang Tianqi conducted a workshop at the Marmara Group Foundation on the topics of the Belt and Road Initiative, Turkey's Century, and expectations from China. Jia Jian from the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in Istanbul also attended the workshop. The Marmara Group Foundation was represented by a delegation including Dr. Akkan Suver, Sezgin Bilgiç, Prof. Dr. Nedret Kuran, Prof. Dr. Özgür Çengel, Prof. Dr. Uğur Özgöker, Prof. Dr. Figen Yıldırım, Cafer Okray, Lale Aytanç Nalbant, Mahmut Saklı, Oğuzhan Ceylan, Mustafa Ergin and Lawyer Murat Keçeciler. Italy's National Day was celebrated

On the occasion of Italy's National Day, Italian Consul General Elena Clemente hosted a reception at the Venetian Palace, together with Italy's Ambassador to Ankara, Giorgio Marropodi. The reception was attended by Italian citizens residing in Istanbul, foreign mission chiefs, and local dignitaries. Müjgan and Dr. Akkan Suver, as well as Şen and Cafer Okray, were also present on behalf of the Marmara Group Foundation at the reception.

We have lost Selahattin Çetiner

We have lost Selahattin Çetiner, a retired Lieutenant General and former Minister of Interior, as well as a volunteer for the Marmara Group Foundation. Selahattin Çetiner participated in workshops and events organized in the 2000s. We extend our condolences to Selahattin Çetiner, who was also a regular participant in the Marmara Group Foundation's Interfaith Dialogue meetings. May his soul rest in peace.

The General Assembly of the Marmara Group Foundation took place

Dr. Akkan Suver re-elected as the chairman. The ordinary general assembly of the Marmara Group Foundation was held at the Pink Greenhouse located in Yıldız Park, Istanbul. The General Assembly, which had a wide participation, was chaired by the Presidency Council consisting of Prof. Dr. Uğur Özgöker, Ahmet Doğan Arıkan, Yalçın Sönmez, Dr. Hüseyin Avcı and Prof. Dr. Sedefhan Oğuz. After Dr. Akkan Suver read the activity report, Köksal Bilgiç presented the audit report. Later, Bülent Soylan and Muhammed Akyol presented the budget and balance sheet. Subsequently, the elections were held. After the elections, Dr. Akkan Suver formed the Executive Council, consisting of Cafer Okray, Sezgin Bilgiç, Lale Aytanç Nalbant, Serhat Tabanca, Ümran Köksüz, Mustafa Ergin, and Mahmut Saklı. The reserve members of the Executive Council were Rahmi Dilek, Belgin Tanrıverdi, Nimet Ulubay, Av. Murat Keçeciler, Prof. Dr. Özgür Çengel, Prof. Dr. Figen Yıldırım, Ferit Sağ, Hasan Yediyıldız, and Erol Altaş. The primary members of the audit committee were Gökhan Humbaracı, Alaaddin Koçak, and Göksel Bilgiç. The reserve members of the audit committee were Aysel Yürür, Mustafa Pakoğlu, and Gülçin Güngören. After the General Assembly, Dr. Akkan Suver expressed his gratitude for the trust shown.

Galatasaray became the champion

Recep Tayyip Erdogan Re-elected as President

On May 28th, Recep Tayyip Erdogan won the Presidential election, becoming the 13th President of Turkey. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan took office by swearing an oath in the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) on June 3rd at 15:00. Prior to the swearing-in ceremony, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was presented with the Presidential Mandate. As the Marmara Group Foundation, we congratulate our President with our civil society identity and extend our best wishes for success, hoping that the Presidential elections will bring prosperity to our nation.

3 Members of Marmara Group Elected to the Turkish Grand National Assembly TBMM

In the elections held on May 14, 2023, three members of the Marmara Group Foundation were elected to the Turkish Grand National Assembly. Şamil Ayrım from the AK Party in Istanbul, Yıldırım Tuğrul Türkeş from the AK Party in Ankara, and Bilal Bilici from the Good Party in Adana were elected as Members of Parliament. We congratulate our three friends and extend our best wishes for success, with the belief that they will serve our nation well.

Belt and Road Workshop

The "Belt and Road 10th Anniversary" workshop, organized by the CMG Asian & African Languages Programming Center, took place at Taxim Hill Hotel in Istanbul. Dr. Akkan Suver was among the speakers at the workshop, which was attended by Chinese Ambassador to Ankara Liu Shaobin, Director General of CMG Asian & African Languages Programming Center An Xiaoyu, NTV Director General Cengizhan Kocahan, and President of the Economy Journalists Association Recep Erçin. The workshop concluded with an evaluation speech by Assoc. Prof. Pelin Sönmez, and Ambassador Ayşe Sözen Usluer, the Representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey in Istanbul, also participated in the event.
