President Islam Kerimov passed away. Our heartfelt condolences go out to Turkish World

It is with great regret that we received the news of the death of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, outstanding statesman, public and political figure Islam Kerimov. He had been President of Uzbekistan since after the Independence with his productive works for Uzbekistan to become a stable and a modern central Asian country. As Marmara Group Foundation we are deeply saddened by the loss of Great Leader of Uzbekistan İslam Kerimov. In this moment of grief, on behalf of the Marmara Group Foundation we extend our sincere sympathies to the entire Turkish World and our deepest condolences all the people of brotherly Uzbekistan over this irretrievable loss. Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge is opened. The third Bridge linking Europe and Asia on Istanbul Bosphorus Strait is opened by the President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The opening ceremony was attended by the Presidents and Head of states of guest countries and the Marmara Group Foundation was represented by Dr. Akkan Suver, Mr. Şamil Ayrım, Mr. Cafer Okray, Mr.İsmail Safi and Mr. Ercüment Güvercin.

Consul General of the Republic of China has finished his term

Consul General of the Republic of China in Istanbul Hon. Gu Jingqi has given a farewell dinner due to his leave. There were great attendence from the diplomatic mission chiefs and from the business circle for the dinner. Mr. and Mrs. Suver and Mr. Kenan Acıkök from the Marmara Group Foundation have participated to dinner of Hon. Gu Jingqi whom had given great importance for the development of China - Turkey relations during his term.

Great Democracy Rally

A giant crowd of more than five million people has gathered in Istanbul at Yenikapı waterfront for the Democracy rally. To condemn the failed military coup attempt of 15th July, 2016 by FETO terror organization, with the invitation of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan AKP, CHP and MHP party leaders also joined the gathering to address the crowd. Along with the leaders, General Commander of the Army Hulusi Akar and the Speaker of the Parliament Ismail Kahraman have made speeches. Speakers have strongly pointed their support to Democracy and the importance of the Democratic principles which founder of the Republic Great Ataturk had stated as our common values. Participants named this historical meeting as the "New Gate (Yeni Kapı) of Democracy" where Marmara Group Foundation members also attented to the gathering.

We have lost Nevzat Yalçıntaş, who made great services as a statesman and discharged significant duties as a renowned scholar and had lion’s share on the establishment of the Marmara Group Foundation. Greatly saddened by the news of his demise, Dr. Akkan Suver makes statements as follows; ‘I cannot verbalise my feelings in regard to his unexpected passing away, who occupied a prominent place during our very foundation.’ To unexpected loss of Nevzat Demirtaş, an esteemed personality, I would like to extend my prayers on his behalf, express my sympathy and submit condolences to Their Esteemed Spouse, Mr Murat, his friends and to his whole family. May He rest in Peace.

The Marmara Group Foundation has condemned and accused coup d'etat attempts

Following the attempts of coup d’etat in Turkey, the Marmara Group Foundation made remarks on developments by stating ‘We cannot accept any interventions conducted against democracy. This is a crime. In our capacity as a civil society establishment, we declare it as a duty for everyone and every institutions to side with the our democracy and democratic institutions. We cannot dispense with democracy and cannot welcome coupe d’etat. Those who attempt to remove democracy will be encountered by the Great Turkish Nation.’

The Bar Municipality of Montenegro and the Küçükkuyu Municipality become twinning cities

Dr. Zoran Srzentić, the Mayor of Bar and Members of the Assembly of the Bosniac Party of the Bar Municipality that have already come to Turkey on occasion of the twinning city agreement taking place between the Bar Municipality of Montenegro and the Küçükkuyu Municipality of Turkey – paid a visit to Galatasaray Football Club SK in Istanbul. Dr. Zoran Srzentić received by Mr Dursun Özbek – the President of GS Sport Club was also joined by Dr. Akkan Suver, the Honorary Consul General of Montenegro to Istanbul. At the visit Mr Nasuhi Sezgin, the Vice-President of Galatasaray SK, Mr. Cafer Okray and Lawyer Ercüment Güvercin from the Marmara Group Foundation and Lawyer Recep Sancaktar, President of the Montenegrin Diaspora were also present.
