Women Leaders Meet at the Discussion Panel of the Democracy Inspectors Association

On 5th March 2016, Müjgan Suver, The President of the Marmara Group Foundation EU and Human Rights Platform, attended the panel discussion on “Different Methods and Approaches in Advocating Women’s Rights” which has been organized within the framework of the World Women’s Day activities arranged by The Democracy Inspectors Association. The panel discussion, which was realized at the headquarter of the Democracy Inspectors Association, hosted the civil society representatives who question women’s status in our society and campaign against the troubles with the awareness and utilization of women’s rights. In this panel discussion, Müjgan Suver mentioned the historical evolution of women’s movements and updated the attendees about the conventions organized by the Marmara Group Foundation EU and Human Rights Platform in order to strengthen both the socio-cultural and socio-economic status of women

The delegation of the Marmara Group Foundation including Dr. Akkan Suver, Mr Yüksel Çengel and Mrs Müjgan Suver paid a visit to Dr. H. Handan Toprak Benli, the Mayor of Avcılar, at her office to represent information about the 19th Eurasian Economic Summit. Following the invitation, Dr. Benli notified the Marmara delegation of her participation in the upcoming Summit.

Azerbaijan opens a Tourism Representative Office in Istanbul

The Ministry of Tourism of Azerbaijan opened its Tourism Representative Office with a ceremony held in Istanbul. At the opening ceremony of the Office to be executed by Ms. Nurlana Çakmak, H.E. Ganire Paşayeva – the Member of Parliament of Azerbaijan, Dr. Akkan Suver, Mr Şamil Ayrım and Prof. Dr. İlber Ortaylı were present as well.

Minister of Culture of Montenegro pays a visit to the Marmara Group Foundation

H.E. Pavle Goranovic paid a visit to the Marmara Group Foundation. Following His official visits in Istanbul, H.E. Pavle Goranovic – the Culture Minister of Montenegro visited the Foundation and get some information about the preparations regarding the upcoming 19th Eurasian Economic Summit. Dr. Suver submitted H.E. Minister Mr Goranovic, who was accompanied on His Visit by H.E. Mr Branko Milic – the Ankara Ambassador of Montenegro the Letter of Invitation for the 19th Eurasian Economic Summit to be organised on 5-7 April, 2016 in Istanbul.

MASSACRE OF KHOJALY COMMEMORATED AT ITS 24TH ANNIVERSARY IN ISTANBUL

The Khojaly Massacre, which was committed by the armed Armenian bands against Azerbaijanis 24 years ago, was commemorated with a ceremony at ASAM. At the meeting, Hon. Esmira Hüseynova, the Istanbul Consul of Azerbaijan and Dr. Sabir Şahtahtlı, the representative of AZERTAC New Agency and Dr. Akkan Suver made presentations related to the inhumane drama taking place 24 years ago. A documentary film of Khojaly Massacre produced by the Haydar Aliyev Foundation was showed during the meeting. Dr. Sabir Şahtahtlı and Hon. Esmira Hüseynova took part in the questions and answers part as well. Following the meeting, Dr. Suver made remarks on the chronological order of the events.

Engin Köklüçınar authors the last eighteen years of Dr. Akkan Suver

Engin Köklüçınar, the vice-president of the Marmara Group Foundation, wrote a book evaluating the past eighteen years of the Marmara Group Foundation under the presidency of Dr. Akkan Suver. Mr Köklüçınar narrated his book categorising each year with a related interview, article, news and important photos from 1998 to 2015. Köklüçınar, in his book The Ages dedicated to the Civil Society, compiled the viewpoints Dr. Suver manifested during his abroad visits and promoted the establishment philosophy of the Eurasian Economic Summits which have been acknowledged as today’s union of prestige and reflection. In the meantime, Köklüçınar submitted in person the book, also editorialised by himself, The Ages dedicated to the Civil Society AKKAN SUVER, which scrutinises the last eighteen years of the Marmara Group Foundation, to H.E. Mr Gül, the 11th President. By referring to the book presented, the President Gül states ‘I am following the workings of the Marmara Group. In particular, Eurasian Summits and the activities related to the European Union promote the enlightened face of Turkey; this makes us feel proud’.
