The Marmara Group Foundation has condemned and accused

Following the attempts of coup d’etat in Turkey, the Marmara Group Foundation made remarks on developments by stating ‘We cannot accept any interventions conducted against democracy. This is a crime. In our capacity as a civil society establishment, we declare it as a duty for everyone and every institutions to side with the our democracy and democratic institutions. We cannot dispense with democracy and cannot welcome coupe d’etat. Those who attempt to remove democracy will be encountered by the Great Turkish Nation.’

Dr. Akkan Suver: Turkey has clearly proven the breadth of its nationwide commitment to democracy.

Dr. Akkan Suver, the President of the Marmara Group Foundation, made public comments following the coup d’état attempt which took place at the night of July 15, 2016 aiming the democracy, national will, the liberty of people and investment credibility of our country. "On his statements for the attempt of Fraudulent-Cleric Fethullah, against the democracy, the national will, the liberty of the people and the freedom of investment, he noted that this coup attempt was encountered by a spirit of democracy and consensus despite the different evaluations emerging from different fractions.

Turkish Society stopped this intervention all together which is against the democracy.

We, as the Marmara Group Foundation, believe that we can avoid these anti-democratic interventions by enhancing the standard of the democracy and ensuring the superiority of law. So, this victory against the coup attempt can be considered an opportunity for the future of the Turkish Society. On the purpose of refraining these kinds of anachronistic interventions we should make corporate reforms and empower the democracy within the framework of the principles of a constitutional state.

Following the suppression of this coup attempt, Turkish Society ought to set itself the goal for reaching a powerful democracy and mighty economy and prove to the world that Turkey is a country which has low risk and is a credible place for investments.

Today, Turkey is the world’s 18th largest economy fully integrated with global markets.

Every day, 3 million barrels of crude oil corresponding to 3 % of the world’s requirement pass through the Straits of Istanbul. This is a significant indicator for the power of the Turkey’s economy.

Beyond Europe, Turkey is an indispensable member of the transatlantic community not only in terms of economy, politics but also of institutions.

Turkey has clearly proven the breadth of its nationwide commitment to democracy.

We are confident that Turkey will continue to demonstrate the resilience of its democracy and its commitment to rule of law.

As the Marmara Group Foundation, in our capacity as civil society establishment, we will continue to be an earnest supporter of these universal principles and goals by considering them an eternal will."
