The Marmara Group Foundation, under the presidency of Dr. Akkan Suver, participates in the general elections in Azerbaijan following an invitation from the authorities of the Republic of Azerbaijan to observe the 1 November 2015 parliamentary elections.

          Dr. Akkan Suver, who held a press conference subsequent to the elections, states that the elections had taken place by Western norms.

By summarizing the utterances given by Dr. Akkan Suver were as follows;

          ‘On the previous Sunday, Azerbaijan also went to the poll to form the parliamentary as well as Turkey.’

‘We, as the Marmara Group Foundation with the observatory status, which is identified as a Civil Society presided by me, took part in the Azerbaijani Parliamentary Elections taking place for the 125-seated Azerbaijani Parliamentary. Together with my friends including Dr. Fatih Saraçoğlu, Şamil Ayrım, Engin Köklüçınar, İlhan Aküzüm, Cengiz Güldamlası, Müjgan Suver and Aslı Yanardağ, we paid a series of visits to the ballot boxes located in the different electoral regions.

Me and my friends followed up an election which was carried out by western norms and in compliance with the international standards.

We came to witness that the democracy had worked and the will of the people was properly manifested during and subsequent to the elections.

We observed for the first time that the ballot boxes had been kept under surveillance by means of the camera-monitoring during these elections, in which the utmost level of transparency was ensured.

In summary, it can be stated that the election was conducted in a fair, democratic and transparent atmosphere and the high interest of people, especially the women and youth in the ballot boxes were worthy of commendation.

From my point of view, the step taken for this election is a crucial one for the future of Azerbaijan. Yet, the esteem and significance given to the ballot box is the sign of the awareness of responsibility perceived for the future of the country.

One of the other remarkable points in these elections carried out by western norms was experienced during the votes counting. The transparency was again put at the centre.

Azerbaijan, as the important member of the western world, held a western style election and finalized this, just like it did as successful as for the European Games and Eurovision.

I strongly believe that the new parliamentary emerging from the elections on November 1st will pave the way to ensure the establishment of a more calipered, greater and more significant achievements within the framework of the future Azerbaijan. Because the people of Azerbaijan showed their confidence to them and it should be the task for the new parliamentary to justify this confidence accordingly.

 The delegation of the Marmara Group Foundation was received by Prof. Dr. Ali Hasanov, the Vice-President of Azerbaijan, subsequent to the Azerbaijani Elections.

The delegation of the Marmara Group Foundation pays a visit to Allahşükür Paşazade, the Sheikh ul-lslam of Azerbaijan and Caucasia in His office. The Sheikh ul-lslam was provided by the delegation with information about the 19th Eurasian Economic Summit.
