Toward a Greener Attica Symposium

The Conference of" Toward a Greener Attica" organized under the patronage of the H.A.H Patriarch Barthelomow with the phrase "the preserving the planet means the protecting it's people" was attended by Dr. Akkan Suver and Müjgan Suver from Turkey in addition to Laki Vingas, Nikolaos Manginas. The conference which started in Athens city of Greece was followed by Spetses Island and Hydra Island. Then it continued on the ship.

Deputy Foreign Minister of Greece H.E. Ioannis Amanatidis also joined the Green Attica Symposium which started with the opening speech of the evening was held by the H.A.H Patriarch Barthelomow in an auditorium at Acropolis Museum. "The Paris Agreement: Past and Present", "Setting the Scene: Religious, Science and Environment", "Global Trends: Economy, Ethics and Spirituality", "Local Impacts: War and Migration, Refugees and Poverty", “Mapping the Future: Leadership and Transformation" and "the Role of Civil Society and Government" was handled in the conference.

In the Green Attica Symposium coordinated by Reverend Dr. John Chryssavgis, the participants attached great importance to discuss environment together with all other issues.

This international ecological symposium in Athens and the Saronic Islands, Greece is organized by the Ecumenical Patriarchate. It will convene theologians and scientists, political and business leaders, as well as activists and journalists from all over the world. Participants will explore the pressing environmental problems of the region and its islands, examining the connections between ecology and economy, particularly in the context of pressing social and environmental challenges of our time. His All-Holiness stated, “The truth is that there are severe repercussions for the way we treat God’s creation. What we believe about our world will define how we behave toward it.”

Affectionately known as the “Green Patriarch,” His All-Holiness has been a trailblazer on the issues related to the protection of the natural environment, organizing numerous symposia, summits and seminars on the ecological crisis
