TURKMENISTAN

As the Marmara Group Foundation, we are proud to continue our representative studies in civil society relations between Turkmenistan and Turkey.

Turkmenistan has been among the prosperous states of today's world. Dr. Akkan Suver saw examples of this on his last visit and told the public with his writings. Ashgabat exhibits the harmony of future and modernity and becomes one of the most beautiful capitals of the world. Today, Turkmenistan is a country that plays an important role in the peace, stability and prosperity of Central Asia with its geostrategic location and rich energy resources.

On the other hand, Turkmenistan, which has been accepted with its neutrality policy for years, obtained the results of its productive works in this field and ensured the celebration of December 12 as International Neutrality Day in the world.

This decision taken by the United Nations on February 12, 2017 is in fact the philosophy of Turkmenistan, which transcends the borders of the country and reaches the international arena from national. This is a sign of confidence in the correctness of the politics pursued.

During the time passed, Turkmenistan insisted and diligently experienced its neutrality. In 2018, they moved the reason for the disintegration that they were living in to the United Nations and this time ensured that the neutrality became an international day.

"Security" and "stability" are the most important achievements of the "Permanent Neutrality" status for Turkmenistan. Therefore, there is no need for serious armament. They have directed their resources to the development of the country. A significant amount of foreign investment was provided to the country.

With neutrality an important psychological contribution has been made to provide self-confidence to the country and society .

In addition, it has given Turkmenistan a certain prestige in the region.

To put it in a nutshell, Turkmenistan has been one of the most secure and stable countries among the Central Asian republics by following a successful policy of neutrality in its relations both at global and regional level.

On the other hand, the fact that the status of "permanent neutrality" gives Turkmenistan more political options both in global and regional foreign relations, it has provided a very effective political power to its foreign policy.
