President of the Marmara Group Foundation Dr. Akkan Suver attended the Presidency Elections in Uzbekistan that was held in March 29th, 2015, as an observer on behalf of the Marmara Group Foundation which represent Turkish civl society organization.

During the press conference after the elections in Uzbekistan, Dr. Akkan Suver statet that; ‘’ Our Uzbek brothers has put forth how much they attach iimportance to the democracy with an %91 participation to the elections.’’

While his trip to Uzbekistan Dr. Akkan Suver was recieved by the Minister of Energy H.E. Iskandar S. Basidov and Chairman of the Supreme Election Board H.E. Mirza – Ulugbek Abdusalomov.

Primarily, I would like to congratulate our Uzbek brothers by means of their effort for such a significant election that they have realized successfully and like it was a festival.

One of the three most important point that I contained is ‘’ most of the observers and the polling clerks were women. Officers and employees are mostly women. This was a beautiful indication the importance and worth of women in Uzbekistan.

My second determination is, there is special ballot box service to the houses for the people who cannot participate to the elections with any reason of diseases. In conclusion, they gave little presents for the ones who voted for the first time in the elections. This was very emotional moment. Old women and holding their babies mothers were waiting on the line for voting with huge responsibility.

Another remarkable fact is, before the ballot boxes were arranged and before the elections were held the morning at 6.00 a.m. , their national anthem was playing in  every saloon, then they were starting to vote.  %91 participation has showed us that our Uzbek brothers hold the democracy.’’

Indicating that the elections were done within national election rules and within international democracy norms, Dr. Akkan Suver mentioned that ‘’They evaluated the liberally and transparently done elections affirmatively’’.

Dr. Akkan Suver remarked visiting nine different election areas and emphisized that the elections was held in accordence to the rules of law, international responsabilities of the countries have taken, and international norms related to the elections.

Regarding Dr. Akkan Suver’s observations, the elections were done in an democratic and clear environment, and there was no breach in relation to the elections

Dr. Akkan Suver was received by the Chairman of the Supreme Election Board H.E. Mirza – Ulugbek Abdusalomov previous day of the elections.  Later on, Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan H.E. İskandar S. Basidov also accepted Dr.Akkan Suver. Again, before the elections Dr. Akkan Suver visited Ambassador of Turkey in Tashkent H.E. Namık Güner Erpul. During this acceptance Member of the Parliament in Istanbul Hon. İsmail Safi was also together with them.
