Azerbaijan's National Leader Heydar Aliyev was commemorated on the 18th anniversary of his death with a ceremony held in Haydar Aliyev Park in Sarıyer by the Consul General of the Azerbaijan in Istanbul, Nermine Mustafayeva.

Assistant of the President of Azerbaijan Hikmet Hajiyev, Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Ankara Rashad Mammadov, Mayor of Sarıyer Şükrü Genç and Consul General of Azerbaijan in Istanbul Nermine Mustafayeva attended the Commemoration Ceremony as well as Azerbaijani officers studying in Istanbul, Azerbaijan citizens and people living in Istanbul.

The ceremony started with the speech of Consul General of Azerbaijan in Istanbul Nermine Mustafayeva in which she summarized the ideas of Heydar Aliyev. Later, Nermine Mustafayeva invited President of Marmara Group Foundation Dr. Akkan Suver to the stage. In the Ceremony where Sezgin Bilgiç from the Marmara Group Foundation was also present, Dr. Akkan Suver talked about Heydar Aliyev's great statesmanship and leadership in his speech.
