In our hundred-year history of the Republic, the first church was opened for worship in Yeşilköy. The Mor Ephrem Syriac Orthodox Ancient Church, built in Yeşilköy to meet the needs of Syriac people living in Istanbul, was inaugurated by our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

The Opening Ceremony, attended by spiritual leaders from abroad and diplomats, also included the Marmara Group Foundation, with Dr. Akkan Suver, Şamil Ayrım, Cafer Okray, Sezgin Bilgiç, and Yüksel Çengel.

During the ceremony, President Sait Susin on behalf of the Syriac Community, and Syriac Patriarch Deputy Mor Filüksinos Yusuf Çetin spoke, providing information about the Church and expressing gratitude to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Following their remarks, the President inaugurated the Church.
