Moldova

As the Marmara Group Foundation, we are a civil initiative that attaches great importance to relations with Moldova. The Moldovan State also values our approach and especially the high level of participation in the Eurasian Economic Summits. We, the Marmara Group Foundation, are grateful and thankful for the great interest of former President Petru Lucinschi.

Moldova has always participated in the organizations we developed in past years with high-level attendance. Former President of Gagauzia Mihail Formuzal has made a great contribution to the advancement of our relations. The interest of Irina Vlah, who succeeded him as head of Gagauzia, has continued in the same way. If we want to talk about the Turkey-Gagauzia relationship that began 87 years ago, we need to mention three important people.

The great scholar of the Gagauz region Mihail Çakır. The important figure of Turkish nationalism Hamdullah Suphi Tanrıöver. And the great leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.

Mihail Çakır, who lived between 1861 and 1938, translated the Bible into the Gagauz language. At the same time, Mihail Çakır, who served to keep the Gagauz language alive, wrote in his important book "The History of the Bessarabian Gagauz": "Other nations accepted the Gagauz as gentle, peaceful, and quickly socializing people. The Gagauz are true Turks. Their language is true Turkish. All known historians state that the Gagauz come from the Oghuz." Hamdullah Suphi Tanrıöver, who met the author of these thoughts in 1931 as the Ambassador in Bucharest, wrote a letter to the Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk introducing him. When Atatürk heard about the thoughts and works of Mihail Çakır, who had the Gagauz national identity, he honored him with a diploma and a medal. In the light of Mihail Çakır's valuable knowledge, Ambassador Hamdullah Suphi Tanrıöver ensured that young Gagauzians received education in Turkey. We continued to support students every year until World War II. For this reason, the Gagauz people are our brothers. Despite all the conditions of human history, there is no other community that has preserved its tradition and language. Gagauzia forms a very important bridge in this relationship by bringing color and strengthening Turkey-Moldova cooperation. With the ideas of "working together, winning together, living together," Moldovans have the added value of their wealth. Meanwhile, there is a Turkish proverb: "A girl establishes the state, a boy establishes the army." Now, the head of Gagauzia is a woman. As the Marmara Group Foundation, we believe that Evgenia Gutul will further grow the living state.
