We are deeply saddened by the loss of Çetin Gürel, one of the veteran journalists of İzmir’s press community and the owner of Gözlem Newspaper.

A loyal friend of the Marmara Group Foundation, Çetin Gürel’s passing has caused great sorrow. Following his death, Dr. Akkan Suver, President of the Marmara Group Foundation, issued the following statement:

“The pain and sorrow we feel over the tragic loss of Çetin Gürel are indescribable.

We will always remember Çetin Gürel, who dedicated his life to journalism and was known as the ‘Yellow Storm’ in his youth, as a true member of the press community and a devoted press worker.

My wife Müjgan Suver and I were honored to be part of the same writing family as Çetin Gürel. I pray to Almighty God to grant him eternal mercy, and I share in the rightful grief of his esteemed wife and children.”
