Marmara Group Foundation attended to the commemorations for the 11th anniversary of Great Leader of Azerbaijan H.E. Haydar Aliyev, in Istanbul and Baku.

On behalf of Marmara Group Foundation, Secretary General of Finance of the foundation Hon. Şamil Ayrım participated to the State Ceremony which was arranged in Baku.

Dr. Akkan Suver made speech in the commemoration was arranged at the Consulate General of Azerbaijan in Istanbul.

Deputies of Azerbaijan were also attended to the commemoration which the Council General of Azerbaijan in Istanbul H.E. Hasan Sultanoğlu Zeynalov organized.

The speech of Dr. Akkan Suver is below:

 I would like to commemorate the 11^th anniversary of death of H.E. Heydar Aliyev presenting two documents which reflect the connections between the Great Leader of independent Azerbaijan and the Marmara Group Foundation.

I demanded to publish these two documents as a witness to history, in order to reflect the thoughts and feelings of two important personalities who figured in two countries’ destiny.

In the year 1998, we persuaded Heydar Aliyev to give a conference, with the great effort of H.E. Mehmet Ali Nevruzoğlu, when he was Ambassador, what he had done for the Marmara Group Foundation.

During the conference more than five hundred distinguished participants were impressed by Heydar Aliyev. This impression was mutual. While he concluded his speech in that exceptional atmosphere, he had emphasized his words saying ‘’ I would like to be a member of the Marmara Group Foundation’’.

Additionally, He wrote down the Foundation’s Book of Honor as ‘’ I am very glad to recognize Turkish Marmara Group closely and glad to have sincere view here today.

I appreciate the Marmara Group Foundation’s functions for developing the Friendship and brotherhood between Turkey and Azerbaijan. I wish Marmara Group Foundation good wishes for following activities.’’

Regarding to the pleasant wish of the President of Azerbaijan, administration of Marmara Group Foundation entitled Heydar Aliyev as Honorary President of the Marmara Group Foundation within unanimity.

Later this decision was taken, in that period of time; applying to the President of Turkey H.E. Süleyman Demirel, we presented him our decision.

After we present our decision, President Süleyman Demirel, announced this in a letter to President Heydar Aliyev.

This letter is an expression of the high dependence existing between Süleyman Demirel and Heydar Aliyev, is nothing more than an expression of joy felt together.

“Dear President, Dear Brother,

I gladly learned that Marmara Group Strategic and Social Research Foundation choose you as the honorary president.

I am following with an appreciation the Foundation which brings together the business mans and thinkers, and I have been addressing them in their meeting.

I believe such distinguished civil society organizations contributed to countries social, economic, and intellectual life.

I am sure you will not spare your contribution and attention, Chairman of the Foundation Dr. Akkan Suver and the delegation who will visit you for to present you the certificate to honorary chairman.

I wish you health and peace to the brother nation of the people of Azerbaijan.

After President Heydar Aliyev, acceptance of Honorary President, every year as Marmara Group Foundation executive council visited him in his Office, for to put forth the account of the year to his attentions.

Every year in our visits, we present our activity reports, and it was the indicator of our responsibility to his credence.

After his passes away in its eleventh year, we also need to remember of his memories and these two documents is just note for the history and our togetherness.

Today our unity is his achievement. I bow with respect in front of the cherished memories of Haydar Aliyev.
