28th Eurasian Economic Summit is held

Forty three countries participated in the 28th Eurasian Economic Summit, which started with the messages of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
At the 28th Eurasian Economic Summit, where Türkiye’s Nobel Prize-winning scientist Prof. Dr. Aziz Sancar was also present, speakers brought up the importance of peace.
At the Summit, the former Presidents of Albania, Croatia, Montenegro, Slovenia, Romania, Macedonia, Tunisia, Moldova, Czech Republic and the 11th President of Türkiye H.E. Abdullah Gül shared their views on the theme of “Peaceful solutions and restoring peace”.
The Eurasian Economic Summit, organized for the 28th time this year by the Marmara Group Foundation, brought together statesmen, academics, opinion leaders and civil society representatives from all over the world at Istanbul WOW Hotel Congress Center under the theme of “A More Humane World, Dialogue for a Livable World”. In addition to economic and technological transformations, calls for peace and conscience came to the fore at the summit.
The Eurasian Economic Summit, which has been realized by the Marmara Group Foundation with its 40 years of experience, has once again turned into a platform of reason that outlines the shape of global peace, economic justice and sustainable future. President Dr. Akkan Suver's visionary leadership and dedication to universal peace added to the global prestige of the summit.
More than 800 politicians, diplomats, academicians and business people from 43 countries participated in the 28th Eurasian Economic Summit organized in cooperation with Marmara Group Foundation and IHKIB on 6-7-8 May 2025 at WOW Hotel Congress Halls.
Global justice, sustainable development and multilateral cooperation were discussed at the summit held with the theme of “A More Humane World, Dialogue for a Livable World”.
In his opening speech, Dr. Akkan Suver, President of Marmara Group Foundation, gave the message “We prefer dialogue instead of conflict, common sense instead of division”. Suver called for a “common conscience” despite the US-China tension, climate crisis and the war in Ukraine and said, “The Eurasia Summit is a platform that unites different voices.” The academic depth of the summit also attracted attention; the academic staff consisting entirely of professors, including Prof. Dr. Aziz Sancar, Prof. Dr. İlber Ortaylı, Prof. Dr. Özgür Çengel and Prof. Dr. Uğur Özgöker, once again proved the quality of the Marmara Group Foundation.
In his opening speech, Marmara Group Foundation President Dr. Akkan Suver summarized the basic philosophy of the Marmara Group Foundation, which he leads. "Globalization now needs a new mind and bold steps. The dialogues that will be born in these pulpits are the only way to save the world from wars, divisions and despair.“ He gave a strong reminder of responsibility to the participants and emphasized ”dialogue and cooperation“ against global crises and gave the message ”We are preparing for the future together with young people".
The guest of honor of the summit was Nobel laureate Prof. Dr. Aziz Sancar, the pride of the scientific world. The participation of Sancar, who gives hope to humanity with his scientific achievements, raised the intellectual and ethical level of the summit even higher.
Prof. Dr. Aziz Sancar warned that "There cannot be a strong economy without basic sciences": "China publishes more science publications than the US. We should produce technology, not import it."
Another important academician Prof. Dr. İlber Ortaylı gave important messages in his speech, emphasizing the protection of Türkiye’s historical and cultural heritage by saying "We have to protect Türkiye’s historical heritage".
In his speech, the famous historian emphasized the importance of transferring Türkiye’s knowledge from the past to future generations and said, "We must understand the great transformations in our history correctly and transfer this information to our youth."
Ortaylı's speech was met with great interest by the audience in the hall. The historian concluded his speech by saying "We should know the value of this land and pass it on to future generations in the best way possible".
On the occasion of its 40th anniversary, Marmara Group Foundation gave awards in fifteen branches in order to keep alive the names of its members and volunteers who passed away.
Awards: The Süleyman Demirel Award of Democracy was presented by İlhan Kesici on behalf of the family to Emil Constantinescu, the Haydar Aliyev Award of Turkic World was presented by Reşat Memmedov, Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Ankara, to Prof. Dr. Aziz Sancar, the Zhelyu Zhelev Award of Philosophy was presented by Vassil Petkov Valchev, Consul General of Bulgaria in Istanbul, to Prof. Dr. Ioanna Kuçuradi, The Erhard Busek Award of Leadership was presented by Dr. Akkan Suver to Prof. Dr. Asaf Hajiyev, the Bernard Lewis Award of History was presented by Hikmet Çetin to Prof. Dr. İlber Ortaylı, the George Marovitch Award of Intercultural Dialogue was presented by Monsignor Orhan Çanlı to Yusuf Sağ, and the Şahap Kocatopçu Award of Business World was presented by Dr. Akkan Suver to Mustafa Gültepe, Hüsamettin Kavi Award of Industry to Yusuf Hikmet Kaya by Emre Kavi, Jak Kamhi Award of Love and Peace to Dr. Hong Tao Tze by Cefi Kamhi, Ahmet Samsunlu Award of Green World to Patriarch Bartholomewos by Kadir Samsunlu, Yüksel Çengel Award of Politics to Hikmet Çetin by Prof. Dr. Özgür Çengel, Yalçın Sönmez Award of Organized Industry was presented by Nurdan and Öncü Sönmez to Adem Ceylan, Örsçelik Balkan Award of Innovation was presented by Gökçe Balkan to Prof. Dr. Mutlu Erbay, The Sami Kohen Award of Press was presented by Lale Aldiş to Sedat Ergin, Hadi Türkmen Award Life Without Barriers was presented by Sündüz Türkmen to Amputee National Football Team.
On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the 28th Eurasian Economic Summit, Special THANK YOU AWARD was presented to Şamil Ayrım, Mehmet Reis, Kemal Erkan, Nihat Kandaloğlu, Ziyatdin Kasanov, Gülselin Şen, İlkay Şen, Mahmat Saklı, Ece Şahin, Sevil Kulak, Engin Köklüçınar, Turan Sarıgülle, Ertuğrul Kumcuoğlu and Sezgin Bilgiç, who contributed a lot to the Marmara Group Foundation.
