We Mourn the Loss of Tunç Erem
We are deeply saddened by the passing of Prof. Dr. Tunç Erem, Founding Member of the Marmara Group Foundation and one of the Presidents of the Marmara Group Foundation Academic Council (2007–2010).
Following the news of his passing, the President of the Marmara Group Foundation, Dr. Akkan Suver, issued a statement.
“The pain we feel upon the passing of our esteemed Professor Tunç Erem—one of the Presidents of the Academic Council of our Marmara Group Foundation, a founding member of the Foundation, and someone who has never withheld his sincere interest and support for our institution since its establishment—is beyond words.
Professor Tunç Erem always played a pioneering role in the activities of the Marmara Group Foundation and consistently guided us with the ideas and insights he shared.
With his courtesy, noble character, and elegance, Professor Tunç Erem was a true Istanbul gentleman, and he will never be forgotten. We share the rightful grief of his esteemed wife, Mrs. Azra İnci.
Our respected professor, who was also awarded the Marmara Group Foundation Honor Medal in 2014, will be laid to rest following the funeral prayer to be held on March 11, 2026, at Levent Barbaros Hayrettin Paşa Mosque after the noon prayer. He will then be buried at the Zincirlikuyu Family Cemetery.
We pray for God’s mercy upon our esteemed professor and extend our heartfelt condolences and patience to his distinguished wife, Mrs. Azra İnci, her family, and the Marmara Group Foundation family.”
