Following his visit to Türkiye, Pope Leo XIV. honored Dr. Akkan Suver, President of the Marmara Group Foundation, with a Papal Medal in recognition of his services and contributions to “Peace and Dialogue” in the field of civil society.

The Papal Medal was presented to Dr. Akkan Suver by Syriac Catholic Patriarchal Vicar Monsignor Orhan Çanlı during the “Love and Peace Iftar” held on Wednesday evening, 25 February 2026.

This medal marks the second distinction bestowed upon Dr. Akkan Suver by the Vatican City.

The first medal was awarded to Dr. Akkan Suver in 2007 by Pope Benedict XVI.
