On the 40th day since his passing, a memorial service was organized for the late Prof. Dr. İlber Ortaylı at the Pera Palas Hotel in Istanbul. Following a short film about İlber Ortaylı,

Yasin-i Şerif (Holy Quran) was recited by Hon. Bayram Şivetoğlu, the Imam of Emirgan Mosque, and prayers were offered. Those attending the memorial service then shared a meal together.
