Gratitude to Bakırköy Municipality

The Marmara Group Foundation payed Dr. Bülent Kerimoğlu, the Mayor of Bakırköy a visit in his Office and made an information presentation. The Marmara Group Foundation committee, which consisted of Dr. Akkan Suver, Engin Köklüçınar and Şamil Ayrım, expressed the Foundation’s gratitude for Bakırköy Municipality’s strong interest in the works on the Summit conducted in Bakırköy area.

Visit to the Consulate General of Georgia

As part of the 20th Eurasian Economic Summit, Dr. Akkan Suver payed Irakli Asashvili, the consul General of Georgia in Istanbul a visit in his Office and made an information presentation. In his visit, Dr. Akkan Suver highlighted the importance that is given by the Marmara Group Foundation to Georgia’s participation with regards to the significance of the existing relationship between Turkey and Georgia.

We have lost Rafsanjani and Herzog

We have lost two important statesmen who played an active role in the world politics. On behalf of the Marmara Group Foundation, Dr. Akkan Suver signed the Books of Condolences that were open in the Consulate General of Islamic Republic of Iran in Istanbul and the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Istanbul upon the deaths of Ayatollah Ali Akbar Hashemi-Rafsanjani who served as the President of Islamic Republic of Iran between 1989 and 1997 and Prof. Dr. Roman Herzog who served as the President of Federal Republic of Germany between 1994 and 1999. As Marmara Group Foundation, we bow respectfully before Ayatollah Ali Akbar Hashemi-Rafsanjani and Prof. Dr. Roman Herzog’s spiritual presence.

We have entered the New Year with sorrow

In the first hours of 2017, we have lost 39 people in the terrorist attack which took place in Reina Nightclub, İstanbul. Dr. Akkan Suver, making a statement upon such terrorist attack which innocent people suffered while celebrating the new year, indicated that “-in reality, this is no more than a new way of an attempt to have a total attack against the mankind. They can neither frighten us nor drift us into a state of chaos. We will stay together against the terrorist threat.” The President of Marmara Group Strategic and Social Research Foundation Dr. Akkan Suver’s statement is as such: “-As Marmara Group Strategic and Social Research Foundation, the terrorist attack which took place in Reina Nightclub, Istanbul in the first hours of the new year, is a crime committed against all mankind. That incident did not only target our citizens but also our Lebanese, Israeli, Iraqi, Moroccan, Libyan, Saudi Arabian, Tunisian, Hindustani, Jordanian, Kuwaiti, Syrian, Russian, Belgian and Canadian guests. We wish for this incident that targets the mankind as much as Turkey to be the last one. We have full faith in our government to find the perpetrators of this terrorist attack which we curse with our social society identity and to do whatever is necessary until these enemies of the mankind are wiped off. In the meantime, I believe that this incident that we have suffered will bound us more. I also believe that all that has happened will not darken our future; on the contrary, it will conduce us toward brighter days in unity. Our condolences to all humanity.”

We Have Celebrated Hanukkah and Christmas

Hanukkah, festival of lights as our Jewish citizens call and Christmas or Birth Holiday of our Catholic and Orthodox citizens were celebrated throughout Turkey. President Erdoğan and Prime Minister Yıldırım congratulated the Jewish, Catholic and Orthodox citizens on the occasion of their holidays with a message. The Hanukkah Festival was held in Istanbul at Esma Sultan Mansion with a celebration organized by Beşiktaş Municipality, while the Orthodox and Catholics celebrated Christmas in their churches. Dr. Akkan Suver and Atty. Ercüment Güvercin have participated the celebrations on behalf of the Marmara Foundation.

We have lost Ambassador of Russia to Turkey Andrey Karlov

We have lost one of great friend’s of the Marmara Foundation, Russian Ambassador to Turkey H.E. Andrey Karlov. This despicable attack to estimable Russian Ambassador H.E. Andrey Karlov is an assault against humanity. Ambassador H.E. Andrei Karlov played an important role in the development of the political, social, cultural and civil society relations between Turkey and Russia. He gave great importance to the Eurasian works of the Marmara Foundation. Marmara Group Foundation will always cherish the memory of Andrey Karlov.
