Şamil Ayrım was elected Member of Parliament

Şamil Ayrım, is Deputy President of the Marmara Group Foundation, was elected Member of Parliament from the Justice and Development Party from third region. We congratulate our dear friend on his success. We believe that in the parliament, Şamil Ayrım also will continue his successful works regarding to the area of civil society that he put forward in Turkey and in the international area. Dr. Suver at the Ictimai TV of Azerbaijan

The Ictimai Television of Azerbaijan did an interview with Dr. Akkan Suver, who has identity of civil society, regarding to election will be held on Sunday, June 24, 2018. At this interview, Dr. Suver emphasized that elections are a part of democracy, and Turkey had the single-party system between 1923-1946 and transition to the multi-party system took place in 1946. He said that the presidential system would enter into life after this election.

It Has Been Three Years from Passing of Süleyman Demirel

We have lost Süleyman Demirel, was the 9th President of Turkish Republic, on June 17, 2015. Süleyman Demirel, died at the age of 91, ended his over more than 40 years of political life as President of Turkish Republic with his saying "I went away six times, I came back seven times”. Süleyman Demirel, was awarded with the Honorary Medal in 2007 and he was owner of the Marmara Group Foundation Social Responsibility Awards 2016, was the one of most distinguished participants of the Eurasian Economic Summits. He also was the protector of the Marmara Group Foundation during his presidency. We, as the Marmara Group Foundation, will always think of his precious memories. We commemorate him with great respect and mercy.

TANAP WAS HELD

The Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP), such a new Silk Road project that carries the Azerbaijani gas to Europe through Turkey was held. First gas flow started on TANAP line. In addition to President of Turkish Republic, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Mustafa Akıncı, President of Azerbaijan, İlham Aliyev, President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić and President of Ukraine, Petro Poroşenko attended the ceremony. The opening speech was held by Rövnag Abdullayev. The ceremony was realized at the Compressor and Metering Stations in Eskişehir. The TANAP project, directly and indirectly, will provide employment of ten thousand people in total.

SOCAR Turkey's Building Was opened

The opening ceremony of SOCAR Turkey's new building, SOCAR Plaza, has been held in Istanbul. The office building located in Vadiistanbul, a major business center in the city, will allow the company to manage all of its business in the country from one center. In addition to Ambassador of Azerbaijan of Ankara, Hazar Ibrahim, Consul General of Istanbul, Mesim Hacıyev, Deputy Governor of Istanbul, Ismail Gültekin, District Governor of Istanbul, Gürsoy Osman Bilgin, Senior Advisor of The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, Prof. Dr. Erman Tuncer, Chairman of the Board of Directors of SOCAR Turkey, Vagif Aliyev, Ceo of SOCAR Turkey, Zaur Gahramanov, Board Members, Süleyman Gasimov and Farrukh Gasimov, Secretary General of PABSEC, Prof. Dr. Asaf Hacıyev, President of the Marmara Group Foundation, Dr.Akkan Suver and Deputy President Engin Köklüçınar also took part in the ceremony. SOCAR President Rövnag Abdullayev emphasized that this building would be the center of ever-increasing economic and cultural cooperation between two brother countries and he said that the company's investments in Turkey increased every year, with total investments to reach $19.5 billion at the opening speech. Ambassador of Republic of Azerbaijan Hazar İbrahim talked about the efficient relationships between Turkey and Azerbaijan. The last speech of ceremony was held by Dr. Akkan Suver. Dr. Suver said the following about the opening ceremony: "This ceremony is an achievement of İlham Aliyev and his colleagues who follow the footsteps of Haydar Aliyev."

Toward a Greener Attica Symposium

The Conference of" Toward a Greener Attica" organized under the patronage of the H.A.H Patriarch Barthelomow with the phrase "the preserving the planet means the protecting it's people" was attended by Dr. Akkan Suver and Müjgan Suver from Turkey in addition to Laki Vingas, Nikolaos Manginas. The conference which started in Athens city of Greece was followed by Spetses Island and Hydra Island. Then it continued on the ship. Deputy Foreign Minister of Greece H.E. Ioannis Amanatidis also joined the Green Attica Symposium which started with the opening speech of the evening was held by the H.A.H Patriarch Barthelomow in an auditorium at Acropolis Museum. "The Paris Agreement: Past and Present", "Setting the Scene: Religious, Science and Environment", "Global Trends: Economy, Ethics and Spirituality", "Local Impacts: War and Migration, Refugees and Poverty", “Mapping the Future: Leadership and Transformation" and "the Role of Civil Society and Government" was handled in the conference. In the Green Attica Symposium coordinated by Reverend Dr. John Chryssavgis, the participants attached great importance to discuss environment together with all other issues. This international ecological symposium in Athens and the Saronic Islands, Greece is organized by the Ecumenical Patriarchate. It will convene theologians and scientists, political and business leaders, as well as activists and journalists from all over the world. Participants will explore the pressing environmental problems of the region and its islands, examining the connections between ecology and economy, particularly in the context of pressing social and environmental challenges of our time. His All-Holiness stated, “The truth is that there are severe repercussions for the way we treat God’s creation. We have lost Erdoğan Demirören, was a businessman and was the Chairman of Demirören Group of Companies. We will commemorate Mr. Demirören, was awarded with the Honorary Medal of the Marmara Group Foundation in 2011, with great respect. Dr. Akkan Suver said the following about the passing of Mr. Demirören: "Erdoğan Demirören was one of the most distinguished participants of the Marmara Group Foundation. We accepted together several foreign statesmen at his home many times. Also, we together visited the President of Azerbaijan, İlham Aliyev and the President of Macedonia, Gjorge Ivanov. We will think of his precious friendship with respect. I share the unimaginable grief of his son and daughter on behalf of myself and my colleagues from Marmara Group Foundation and I wish patience.

Visit at the Consul General of the People's Republic of China

We have lost Prof. Dr. Agni Vlavianos Arvanitis

World-famous Prof. Dr. Agni Vlavianos Arvanitis, who was the founder and president of Biopolitics International Organisation and was one of participants of Marmara Group Foundation's Eurasian Economic Summits, passed away on April 10, 2018 in Athens. The reknown scientist was buried with a ceremony organized in Athens. Dr. Akkan Suver, President of the Marmara Group Foundation, said the following about the passing of Prof. Dr. Agni Vlavianos Arvanitis: "Professor Arvanitis was an important participant of our summits. We will commemorate her with great respect. We will think of her with the words "when the wise dies, humanity dies". May she rest in peace."

Winpace at Second Annual Meeting

The Winpeace Group which has also members of the Marmara Group Foundation held its second annual meeting in Istanbul. In addition to EU and Human Rights Platform President Müjgan Suver, Gülriz Yıldırım, Nur Mardin, Şule Bucak, Jennifer Serter, Nilgün Lermioğlu, Zeynep Oral and Feriha Erfan attended the meeting. The participants talked about the preparations for the youth camp project planned for this summer season in Cyprus.
